Friday/Saturday Finds

Yesterday was busy, so I am late getting to my weekly finds. I ended up going with Danielle and Jessica from my MFA program and Jessica’s roommate Ginger to the bustling metropolis(notttttt…) of Plattsburgh, New York. Why may  you ask?

Target.

There isn’t one in the ENTIRE state of Vermont. Yep. So, Plattsburgh has one attached to the local mall. I haven’t been to Plattsburgh in six years since I worked at Camp Chateaugay, and surprisingly, things(except gaining a Target, and a Best Buy), haven’t change much.

So, off we went to the Grand Isle Ferry(north of Burlington), and spent a nice afternoon roaming Tarjay and the mall.

Two of my purchases…

Ginger introduced us to a Black Eyed Peas song that I hadn’t heard before that I can’t stop playing on repeat:

Always fall in with what you’re asked to accept. Take what is given, and make it over your way. My aim in life has always been to hold my own with whatever’s going. Not against: with.

Friday Finds

I made it through my first week of the MFA program. I’m alive, but tired. Here is this week’s Friday Finds:

The summer of 2005, my campers at Camp Chateaugay introduced me to this song. Thanks Taylor V.

Bread and Butter Farm, Hinesburg, VT. I had a fresh burger-cow was probably killed five hours before I ate it.

Quote:

Silence, they say, is the voice of complicity.
But silence is impossible.
Silence screams.
Silence is a message,
Just as doing nothing is an act.

Let who you are ring out and resonate
in every word and every deed.
Yes, become who you are.
There’s no sidestepping your own being
or your own responsibility.

What you do is who you are.
You are your own comeuppance.
You become your own message.

You are the message.”
-Leonard Peltier

Happy Labor Day 2011 Weekend, everyone.
