"Peace Begins with a Smile."

“I know God will not give me anything I can’t handle. I just wish that He didn’t trust me so much”-Mother Teresa

The Diocese of Memphis is playing host to a pretty cool event today and tomorrow-the relics of Mother Teresa are travelling the country in celebration of her 100th birthday.Somehow, Memphis was chosen as a stop. Four churches in Memphis are opening their doors for her “things” and to the Missionaries of Charity(the order of nuns Mother Teresa started in 1950). I was able to go to St. Therese Little Flower today for Mass and for the veneration of the relics. Her relics consisted of her sandals, her rosaries, two beautiful gold crosses, a lock of her hair, and a vial of her blood-really not that creepy.

At the front of the church, a row of sisters sat and were very nice. They accept no monetary donations, just petitions(prayer requests), and the belief of being charitable to the sick, poor, and needy. There were two big signs with the history of Mother Teresa, along with pictures and information of her hospitals and convents in India(think science fair project boards…).

I rushed to get there after work, and it was nice to just sit and be in the prescience of the sisters, and, in my opinion, of Mother Teresa. Today is the Feast Day of Mary Magdalene, and it was fitting that on this day, we honored two women of the church.
